Crypsis Modulator™

Avoid Detection

There are many forms of detection and similarly many ways in which to avoid it.

The top-tier space ship guilds of Ovi™ have been in a decades long arms race when it comes to avoiding detection. The first wave of technologies included mere mirage tricks: Special fuselage coatings and Yehudi lights would darken ships against the black backdrop of space or light up to match the brightness of a blue sunny sky.

These “simple” technologies would avoid visual detection quite well.

There is stealth/camouflage to prevent this, but advanced radar systems will detect cloaked entities.

Anoles: Reptiles that can camouflage!

Yehudi Lights

Yehudi lights luminates the fuselage to match the brightness of the sky thus lowering range of visual detection substantially.

Holo and Mirror Crypsis Modulators

Crypsis is the ability of an animal to avoid observation or detection by other animals.

Phased-array optics PAO. Creates a 3D hologram around its object. Cannot be countered with multiple observers. This is dubbed Holo Crypsis.

Mirrored surfaces reflecting views of empty space. Requires a known observer. Can be countered with multiple observers. This is called Mirror Crypsis.

Passive Radar Crypsis

Composite materials, radiation absorbent materials, angled fuselage, special paint, painted patterns.

Detection

Mobile / People-Carried Radars

Will not detect crypsis modulated targets, even if they do not have passive radar crypsis.

Static Radar

Single emitter and receiver. Will detect crypsis modulated targets without passive radar crypsis.

Multistatic Radar and Heat Signature

Multiple emitters and separate receivers: Multistatic radar!

Will detect anything at low frequency, but not precisely enough to target weapons.

Will detect anything at high frequency and can target weapons. However, high frequency is short range. So is heat signature scans.

Scouting for Contrails

Contrails short for condensation trails or vapor trails.

A way to visually detect incoming low altitude flying aircrafts. Scouting camps along a base perimeter can warn the base moments before an airstrike, if they see contrails of otherwise “cloaked” aircrafts.
