The Rigaborum have never discovered exactly why some ancestrals can wield the power of Riga. They have, however, discovered a unique amino acid which is only prevalent in the body of people blessed with the gift. That amino acid is Rifondine.
Rifondine is an essential amino acid which the metabolism of any person cannot self-synthesize. Rifondine is a scarce, hydrophile and fluorescent amino acid with a mass higher than even Tyrosine and Tryptophan.
The ribosomes handle the CAC-codon differently than for other ancestrals. Normally both the CAU and CAC codons will translate into the amino acid Histidine. The ribosomes of Riga-wielders translate the CAC codon into rifondine.
